Bharatheeya Natya Dinam, A Day for Classical Arts, was organised by Sree Sankara School of Dance at Sree Sankara Natya Mandapam, Kalady on 23rd May 2014.
A  full day programme devoted for classical arts was the main attraction. Power Point Presentation highlighting the contribution of SSD to Classical Arts, Classical Dance programme by Sudha Peethambaran((SSD Director & ICCR -DDK Artiste), teachers & senior students etc were the important programmes

International Dance Day Celebrations at Sree Sankara School of Dance, Kalady

     Dance is the language which can bring the people together, irrespective of the political, cultural and ethnic barriers said Prof. P.V.Peethambaran, the well known arts organizer  and promoter of National Sree Sankara Dance & Music Festival . He was delivering the key note address as part of the International Dance Day (IDD) celebrations in Sree Sankara Natyamandapam at Kalady. Dance has universal application. Apart from a source of entertainment, it is congenial for a healthy growth of mind and the body. So steps to universalise dance is the need of the hour. People from all walks of life must energize, revitalize and renew themselves through dance. Bharateeya Natya Divas, on the lines of International Dance Day, is imperative  in our country to promote the Great Indian Classical Arts, he said.

   Prof. P.V.Peethambaran & Mohinyattam Danseuse Sudha Peethambaran inaugurated the IDD Celebrations. Danseuses Soumya Varma, Neethu P.R and Arshaly Shaji spoke. Dance Teachers, students  and housewives attended the function

Prof P.V.Peethambaran and Mrs. Sudha Peethambaran were awarded ‘ ACHARYA RATNA AWARD’ and ‘NATYARATNA AWARD’ respectively by S.R.V.C.S. Koratty Union.

       Prof.P.V.Peethambaran was awarded with the title considering his  contribution to the promotion of classical arts and social service.

Sanskrit Academy Award to Mrs Sudha Peethambaran

   Considering her contribution to  the  cause  of classical dance, Sudha Peethambaran was awarded P.C.Vasudevan Elayath Memorial Award. Sudha, as a danseuse, contributed much by developing classical dance as a medium of social change. ‘ Art for social change’ was the theme of stage presentation which made her eligible for the Award.
   The theme visualised by Prof.P.V. Peethambaran ( As an Arts Organiser & Promoter) and scripted and directed by Prof. C.P.Unnikrishnan ( As an authority on Natyasasthra)

Cutural Programmes in connection with the 20th anniversary of Sree Sankara School of Dance, Kalady –Year long programme – Dance & Music Programme – Appreciation Classes – Seminars -  Natyasibiram- Workshop – Exhibition – Lecture Demonstration etc.

The celebration started on October 2nd at Sree Sankara Natyamandapam . The programme was inaugurated by Sri Edanad Rajan Nambiar, famous koothu artiste and a talk on traditional arts by him.

Cultural programmes organized in our centres started on September 16 at SSD Malayattoor Centre.

On October 14  Kathakali Appreciation Class by Prof.C.P.Unnikrishnan  was organized. Hundreds of students attended this class.

The second programme was conducted at SSD Vengoor Centre on September 21.
The third programme was Kathakali Appreciation class for dance teachers on 27th Oct. at Sree Sankara Natyamandapam
